Poker Hand Ranking

Knowledge the Poker Hand Rankings is principal to become a professional and successful online poker Player.

The main reasons for this:
- it will allow you to fast recognize your current poker hand power;
- it will help you to know when you should fold your cards or continue playing.

Exist many different  combinations that can form a hand in poker – Poker Hand. For example if you have 4 Aces, then you have a Four of a kind (very good Poker Hand). All the possible poker hands are explained on this page.

We usually use the following abbreviations

A – Ace
K – King â™  -  Spades
Q – Queen ♣ -  Clubs
J – Jack ♥ -  Hearts
T – Ten ♦ - Diamonds
9 – Nine

The Poker Hand value rating (from highest ranking to the lowest)

Royal Flush Royal Flush – Poker Hand
The strongest and bests poker hand. The  highest five denominations cards all in the same suits. T, J, Q, K and Ace all of the same suit, e.g. hearts

Straight Flush Straight Flush – Poker Hand
Five cards in denomination sequence, all in the same suit. For example 5-6-7-8-9 of spades or J-T-9-8-7 of clubs.
Four of a kind Four of a kind – Poker Hand
Four cards of the same rank, e.g. four Tens (ThTsTcTd) or fours Kings (KhKsKcKd). If Players have same Four of King poker hand, then the player with the highest fifth card wins
Full House

Full House – Poker Hand
Three cards of one denomination and two cards of another denomination. When comparing two full house wins, whose trio of cards greater

Flush

Flush – Poker Hand
Five cards of same suit but not in denomination sequence. When comparing two flushes wins the one who has the highest card.

Straight Straight – Poker Hand
Five cards in denomination sequence. When comparing two straights wins the one who has the highest card. An ace can be taken as a combination of high or low (but not both high and low in one and the same hand). For example A-K-Q-J-T or A-2-3-4-5.
Three of a Kind Three of a Kind – Poker Hand
Another name – Set. Three cards of the same denomination, e.g. three of  Seven (7s7d7c). If Players have same Three of King poker hand, then the player with the highest  card wins (if fourth card the same – Players with highest fifth card wins)
Two Pairs Two Pairs -Poker Hand
Two cards of one denomination and two cards of another denomination
One Pair One Pair – Poker Hand
Two cards of the same denomination. In our case pair of Kings – KhKs. A Pair you will see most often at the poker table.
High Card High Card – Poker Hand
Hand with the card of the highest denomination. Tie breakers go to the next highest card etc.
